On September 11, 2024 Lakewood Jiu Jitsu Academy dedicated our self-defense class to knife/ edged weapon defenses. In honor of the losses that occurred on September 11, 2001 that all began with the hijacking of four commercial airliners with knives and box cutters. We also paid tribute to a few Americans of whom we are aware who have given or risked their lives to stop armed attacks involving mass violence- while unarmed. Lakewood Jiu Jitsu Academy strongly believes that Americans can best never forget 911 by being prepared and confident to stop mass violence in its tracks before injuries or loss of life of that magnitude ever occur again.

Richard Bresler will always be in Gracie jiu jitsu history as Rorion Gracie’s first student in the United States. Bresler’s book takes the reader from the very early days of Rorion Gracie teaching Gracie jiu jitsu self-defense in various garages in the Los Angeles area, through the first early challenge matches, to the Ultimate Fighting Championships. He was caught up in an unhealthy lifestyle, abusing drugs and spiraling downward. He reveals details of how challenge matches were...

The SafeWrap lateral control system is a culmination of tens of thousands of hours of high level jiu jitsu grappling experienced applied in an organized method of humane control of an uncooperative subject. Gracie further recognized that pronation provokes the fight/ flight response, increasing the the occurrence of amygdala fueled panic reactions.
