Lakewood Jiu Jitsu Academy has some exciting news! Beginning in September of 2024 we will become the only Gracie University Certified Training Center in Lakewood, Colorado. We will be the exclusive jiu jitsu dojo in Lakewood or downtown Denver to offer Gracie Combatives, Gracie Bullyproof, and the Gracie Master Cycle training.
Beginning September 2024 we will solidify our class offerings to follow the proven structure of the Gracie University jiu jitsu training programs.
A student new to jiu jitsu has every reasonable expectation to first learn how to defend their own life in a violent street attack. Jiu jitsu is not a sport or a game. It is an art of close quarters combat that has defined combat efficiency for nearly 1000 years. Gracie Combatives is the fastest path to self-defense effectiveness for ANYONE. Gracie Combatives consists of 36 proven self-defense techniques that do not require athletic talent or physical strength to defeat larger, stronger, violent attackers.
A child could be on the receiving end of bullying any day at any age. The Gracie Bullyproof program provides kids with multiple levels of skills to keep their lives free from bullies. Children will develop confidence with the bodies and physical abilities. They will learn to channel that confidence in verbal communication that commands respect while potentially de-escalating an encounter with a bully. In those cases where confidence and communication cannot defuse an altercation, children will have jiu jitsu techniques to empower them to end that confrontation without violence or injuring another child.
Many jiu jitsu students already gave experience with jiu jitsu and are not beginners. Gracie Master Cycle classes offer students who have already developed comfort with self-defense to practice more complex techniques and strategies to be able to use principles of jiu jitsu in a more intense practice setting where their training partners also know how to grapple. These techniques can take a student all the way to BLACK BELT ! Advanced students will find that Lakewood Jiu Jitsu Academy is a training environment in which they can turn the heat up with their jiu jitsu, but still grow safely without unnecessary injuries.

Structure
All of these Gracie jiu jitsu programs are structured and planned out from beginning to the end. Students can look at the class calendar that is published each month and see which jiu jitsu techniques will be covered each class for the whole month. This structure allows students to see exactly which classes they want to make sure they attend, based on which classes they need to move forward in the self-defense curriculum, or in the advanced Master Cycle curriculum.
Video Library
Every technique in Gracie jiu jitsu is available in detailed on=line instructional videos. Students at each level will have access to the Gracie University online video library for all of the techniques needed to master the level at which they are training. Students can review a class after they have completed it live, or students can watch videos to prepare for upcoming classes to make learning the techniques in live class so much easier.
